So I happily said yes to the idea of creating a graphic representation of Nina's many and varied interests, activities, skills, and passions, not to mention her work.
And I wanted to show the connections and relations between these different elements wherever possible, too, for the sake of placing them in some sensible way on the page.
For example, the importance of Nina's local community encompasses the joy of exploring it as well as volunteering within it. But equally, that love of travel and exploring extends beyond the community and includes the whole country, and more.
Skills in organising projects for people are tied to a strong aptitude for research, which also leads on to her other sorts of writing. And while these may be largely computer-based, Nina's love of nature and the sea is prominent, and I knew it was especially important to give penguins pride of place, right in the middle at the top.
