When I heard about a Graphic Shakespeare Competition, I knew I wanted to show this scene and undertake the challenge of fitting it into four A5 pages. (Another category allowed any scene, any number of pages - way too open-ended for me!) But without knowing a little backstory, the waking-up bit would be not just silly but completely incomprehensible. And I really wanted to make the plot as clear as possible to those not familiar with the play.
So using up part of one page with a 'previously' section meant the rest of the scene was even more squished, and though I paraphrased and reduced the dialogue as far as I could, it's still on the wordy side for a comic. Anyway it was a lot of fun and I hope it gets the story across.
